Since 2010, Glenn Barker has served as Executive Director of one of the largest community centers in The ManKind Project, currently hosting thirty weekly men’s groups, The New Warrior Training Adventure, leadership trainings, and community events.

For over twenty years, he created and implemented co-ed, interactive personal development workshops on gender roles and archetypes. Over the last ten years he envisioned, created, and implemented a 24- Week Course: A Do-It Yourself Men’s Group.

Glenn’s business development background is highlighted by the creation and sale of his unique marketing and sales processes in the credit card industry.

At The Mankind Project, acting on his vision called Bridge Builders between organizations, Glenn has forged relationships with mentoring agencies, the City of Chicago, and ten social service agencies to cooperatively implement the first men’s program curriculum of its kind, young men’s and mentors New Warrior Training Adventure Weekends followed by facilitated then peer-led men’s groups now poised for expansion into Chicago neighborhoods and other mentoring agencies.

Glenn’s innovative scholarship and funding strategies continue to provide resources for men to participate in these programs.

Collaborating with the Oprah/Iyanla Life Class, Fatherless Sons, Glenn organized a call to action to The ManKind Project network of international centers that resulted in the convergence of 100+ adult fatherless sons at HARPO Studios in Chicago as audience participants for one Life Class show that was extended to two.

During our conversation, Glenn talks about:

– Some his background and what made his childhood neighborhood special
– How he handled suffering from dyslexia in school and his parent not knowing
– His father kicking him out of the house when he was eighteen when he was not able to read or write and how he overcame the next twenty years of challenges
– Discovering that the business world was not for him but helping men was his mission
