Welcome to BLKMEN CAN TALK, a show where Black Canadian men come together to have real, unfiltered conversations about life, culture, and community.
Your hosts are Paul Osbourne, Kofi Morris and Dr. Vibe™.
On a recent episode of BLKMEN CAN TALK, Paul and Dr. Vibe™ talked about Black Fathers Back-to-School Guide Best Practices for Student Success.
During the conversation, Paul and Dr. Vibe™ discussed the challenges and best practices for Black fathers engaging with the education system, including the importance of positive affirmations for children and fostering critical thinking over rote memorization. A significant segment involves Paul and Dr. Vibe™ sharing personal stories about Black land ownership and the importance of cultivating relationships with teachers and professors, particularly in post-secondary education, while emphasizing the need for fathers to claim their role and advocate against biases in school environments. They also promote actionable tips for parental involvement, such as sending introduction emails to teachers and encouraging participation in Black-led community programs to provide balance and positive reinforcement for youth.
