David Lewis-Peart is the Creator, Honouring the Inner Man (HIM): Affirmations for the Afro-Canadian Male, Calendar series; Author, Pray You Break; OCAD University TEDX speaker; Contributing writer and producer for CBC Arts and Global News.
David was a Concept creator and place maker as part of Nuit Blanche (2013, 2015), Nuit Rose Festival (2018), Manifesto Festival (2012, 2014), Pride Toronto, and World Pride (2014).
He has spent over a decade working within social service organizations serving children, youth and families, LGBTQ persons, those with mental health challenges, HIV/AIDS affected populations, and families engaged in the child welfare system.
He is also a sessional professor in Child and Youth Care and part-time professor in Social Service Work with public colleges in Toronto, Brampton and Oakville, and guest lecturing at post-secondary institutions across the Greater Toronto Area and London, UK.
David is the recipient of community scholarships and awards for professional and volunteer contributions to the human service sector with international experience in program development and service delivery (Caribbean, United Kingdom, Africa).
He has trained in addictions and mental health, restorative practice, circle work, alternative dispute resolution and transformative justice. David is a Master of Social Work graduate mental health professional focused on trauma and resiliency, employed in the child welfare space.
