Our scheduled guest for today’s show is Monifa Brooks, Co-Founder & Principal – Garabyte Consulting. Garabyte Consulting works with companies to build programs and processes that protect personal data.
Monifa is passionate about enabling innovation while ensuring compliance with privacy obligations to build customer trust and confidence. Monifa is an advocate for privacy awareness and volunteers her time with various school boards and non-profit organizations across Ontario educating high school students about the importance of data privacy. Monifa is an Alumni of the PWC Women in Leadership program.
Monifa is a seasoned expert in access and data privacy compliance, with an extensive background developing and implementing privacy programs, leading business transformation in alignment with new regulations, responsible use of data insights and analytics as well as breach management.
Before Garabyte, Monifa worked for a private sector organization leading privacy compliance and risk assessments to enable the use of cutting-edge technologies and advanced data practices. In this role, Monifa interacted with various regulatory authorities and was the project lead overseeing any remediating compliance orders. For almost a decade, Monifa helped to operationalize all aspects of the privacy program, implement a CASL compliance regime, implement technology solutions, and managed compliance for the Unsolicited Telecommunications Rules.
Monifa’s unique combination of regulatory compliance, risk management, process improvement, and project management allows her to find practical solutions for any business. Monifa holds the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) Certified Privacy Professional- Canada (CIPP/C) and Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) designations. Monifa is also Six Sigma Green Belt Certified (SSGBC).
Ms. Brooks will be talking about data privacy and various subjects.
