The Black Man’s Guide To Graduate School is organized into nine chapters, with each chapter focusing on a different aspect of the graduate school process from making the decision to start to selecting mentors. Each of the authors provides a unique viewpoint; allowing readers to more fully connect with an individual authors story or path, while still being exposed to the range of views.
Recently, we had the opportunity to speak with Michael Branch, one of the authors of The Black Man’s Guide To Graduate School.
During our conversation, Michael talked about:
– Shares some of his background
– The important words that his grandmother shared with him while he was growing up
– Life growing up in Louisville, Kentucky
– How the importance of education in his life started an early age
– His educational journey and the why he choose to get his MBA
– Some of the challenges he encountered while he was in college and how he overcame them including getting a job during the recession after graduating

– If there more opportunity for Black men to get into graduate school and are there more Black men going into graduate school?
